Henry (Hank) Lee Halls, 93, died 1/12/2016. Born 9/19/1922 in Alex, Oklahoma to Minnie Belle Hodges and Peter Samuel Halls. WWII veteran 1/1943-1/1946, 1st Platoon, Company G, 407 Infantry Regiment of the 102nd Division (Okarks); awarded bronze medal and a purple heart. Made decision for Christ in 1946 that guided him throughout his life. Received degree in mechanical engineering from University of Oklahoma CFME, 1948. Married Alma Lavern Baker 6/9/1951 at First Baptist Church of Norman, Oklahoma. They had two daughters and raised their family in Riverside, California where he worked for Riverside Cement Company and later for Bechtel in Los Angeles.
Married Lucille Ellis in 1970 and moved to Denver, Colorado for 12 years before retiring in Cabool, MO and relocating to Springfield, MO in 2000. Member of Second Baptist Church, former Commander for Purple Heart group, enjoyed gardening and the company of fellow bridge players at the Southside Senior Center. A practical, dependable, caring man with a dry sense of humor, he remained sharp witted and active in his later years.
Survived by daughters Karen Elliott of Juneau, AK and Jan Halls of Springfield, MO; sister Ramona Griffin of Del City, OK; 3 grandchildren: Jordan Iversen (Anna) of Aptos, CA, Sarah Elliott of Billings, MT, and Ryan Elliott (Cassandra Squibb) of Anchorage, AK; 3 great grandchildren: Aksel Elliott, Liv Elliott, and Ethan Iversen; sister-in-law Earnestine "Jo" (Ellis) Reese of Cabool, MO; numerous nieces and nephews; and many brothers and sisters in Christ. Preceded in death by wife Lucille (Ellis) Halls; sister, Jewell Halls; and niece Brenda Griffin.
Public funeral will be held Tuesday, 1/19/2016 at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield: viewing 10:30am, service 11:30am. Military honors/burial follow at 1:00pm, Missouri Veteran's Cemetery.
