Henry James Eley, 75, of Buffalo, MO passed away at 11:35 pm on June 27, 2016. Henry (Gunny) was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1961. While serving his country he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from the USMC in April 1981, his highest rank held was Gunnery Sergeant. Gunny lived the past 20 years in the state of Missouri with home in Waynesville and Buffalo. He loved God, his wife, his family, and the Marine Corps. He also loved spending time with many, many friends and sitting on his front porch.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Joseph Eley, mother, Mary Jane Eley, and infant brother Francis Eley.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen Eley of Buffalo, MO; son David Eley (Melissa) of Pleasant Hill, MO; grandchildren Madelyn Eley, Austin Eley, Anthony Owensby, Kaylie Owensby, Jennifer Gregory, and Gage Gregory, all of MO; brothers Robert Eley (Trish), John Eley, and Harold Eley (Margaret), all of WA; sisters Mary Jane Holmes, Patricia Eley, Barbara Cords (Ted), and Marjorie Travis (Greg), all of WA; in-laws Helen Aten, Kathy Hill (Jim), Judy Stanger (George), Clara Patino, Mary Sallee, Maddy Halloran, Stephanie Richardson (Duane), David Halloran, and Margaret Moore, all of IN; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will have a celebration of life with family and friends at the home in Buffalo at a later date. A small service will also be held in Indiana at a later date. He will be laid to rest in Seattle, WA.
