Obituary
Helen is survived by her wonderful children whom she loved with all her heart: Charlie Grissum, Amy Duvall and her husband, Mike. Above all, she had an indescribable and whimsical love for her beautiful granddaughter, Lyla. We are thankful that she has been reunited with the love of her life, Rick Strong, to whom she was married for over 30 years, as well as her brother Charlie Hawes and parents, Jesse and Wilma Hawes.
Helen dedicated much of her life to teaching and inspiring students and staff in the Marionville R-9 School System. As an elementary school teacher, Helen had a passion for helping children succeed. If you ever met Helen, you would know her dedication to teaching paled in comparison to her love for Jesus. She could always be found in her Sunday School class at Second Baptist, chatting with her "Coffee Girls", or praying for you in the middle of the supermarket. Her Love of Jesus was unyielding.
Because of her deep faith we celebrate her life, May 26th from 6-9pm at the Springfield Lake Boathouse, 5324 S. Kissick, Springfield MO 65804. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the children's ministry at Second Baptist Church in Springfield, MO.
