Obituary

Helen L. Stockton, age 88 of Springfield, MO passed away on January 18th, 2016 in Springfield, MO.

She was a member of the graduating class of 1945 Aurora High School.

She worked for American Dairy (formerly O.E. Moore & Sons) as a bookkeeper in Aurora, prior to starting a family.

She married Charles A. Stockton on January 4, 1947. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in June of 2015.

She was a truly devoted mother of four children by staying active in their school and church activities, always volunteering her time and exemplifying high moral standards, which is best represented by a hand written note she left for the family that states, "If you're too busy for your family then you are too busy. Make time for what matters most and have the discipline to say "no" more often so that you can say "yes" to the people who matter most."

She served as Den Mother, Homemaker, Volunteer with the Girl Scouts, United Methodist Women, Stitch and Spice club, various social club treasurer and bookkeeper.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Hendrix and Della (Earnhart) and one brother, Victor (Wayne) Hendrix.

She is survived by, two daughters, Janet Nickell of Olathe, KS and husband Mike, Rhonda Galbraith of Springfield, MO and husband Bill Wills as well as two sons, Stanley Stockton of Lexington, KY and wife Kim and Bruce Stockton of Joplin, MO and wife Ann.

Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins and friends.

She enjoyed camping, gardening, canning, and traveling in her spare time.

She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Funeral Services will be Friday, January 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday at 10:30 AM until service time. Interment will be Monday, January 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
