Helen Marie McCartney, 89, Springfield, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 in Mercy Hospital. She was born July 22, 1925 in Washington, DC, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Walsh. Helen, a former Mayor's wife, is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, N.L. "Mac" McCartney; son and his wife, Patrick and Sharon McCartney; two daughters, Patricia and Deborah McCartney; and two grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, October 10, 2014 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow in the Springfield National Cemetery.
