Obituary

Helen (Alexander) Lilly the third of four daughters born to Jesse E. and Mary (Weber) Alexander on December 20, 1917, passed to her heavenly home on February 1, 2011, in the Shepherd's Haven, Lockwood, Mo. Mrs. Lilly was a lifelong Springfield resident until she entered long term care. She was a charter member of Holy Trinity Church and an active member of St. Anthony's Guild. Along with being a wonderful wife, mother, caregiver and friend, Helen was employed for many years with Turners, Inc., as a secretary/bookkeeper, also with Monarch Machine and owned the Tastee Freez. She married the love of her life, John Joseph Lilly on April 16, 1947. He predeceased her on September 19, 2010. To this union three children were born: John Edward May 15, 1948 and died on August 7, 1948. She is survived by a son, Robert A. and wife, Pamela Lilly, Richland, Mo., daughter, Marilyn and Steve Daly, Springfield, Mo., and five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and a grand dog, Johnny Cash. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2011 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church Chapel with the Reverend Patrick A. Teter celebrant under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Richland, Mo., or St. Susanne's Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon. Our deepest appreciation goes to the Staff of Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Lockwood for their love, compassion, caring and kindness shown Helen.
