Helen A, Heerman, 94, passed away Monday, April 25th, 2011 at St. John's Hospital. She was born April 10, 1917 in Cole Camp, Missouri, the eldest daughter of Eduard and Katie Lutjen. Helen married Marvin Heerman June 23, 1940. They lived in Lincoln, Missouri, for several years then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where Marvin worked for Stanolind Oil and Gas Company. Helen worked as a homemaker during their 30 years in Tulsa. She also served as an active member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League at Grace Lutheran Church. Marvin retired from Amoco Oil Company in 1975 and the couple moved to Springfield to enjoy their retirement years. Marvin preceded Helen in death in 2008. Helen has been an active member of Trinity Lutheran church and actively participated in several women's circles. She was well-known as the "dessert lady" for many of the church functions. Helen is survived by her two siblings, Calvin Lutjen and wife Ethyl, of Kansas City, MO and her sister, Viola Groves, of Thermal, CA; a daughter, Kathy and husband Joe Hutchinson; two grandsons, Aaron Erickson and David Erickson, and a great grandson, Sean Erickson, all of Joplin. The family would like to thank the staff of Culpepper Place-East for the wonderful care and personal attention given to Helen the last few months. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, April 29th, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Bill Marler officiating, under the direction of Gorman Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow at 3:00 P.M. in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Lincoln, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday, at the funeral home.
