Helen Dolores (Adams) Franklin, 77, Springfield, Mo. departed this life on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at James River Care Center from a long illness. She was born in St. Louis, Mo. on July 17, 1934 to Charles R. Adams and Elma C. (Jackson) Adams. She graduated from Sumner High School in St. Louis, Mo. and moved to Springfield, Mo. in 1959. Helen was married to Everett Leroy Franklin, Sr. on January 11, 1960. She worked as an elevator operator at Netters Department store until 1965 and then became a homemaker. Helen was a member of Samaritan United Methodist Church in St. Louis, Mo. until she transferred membership to Pitts Chapel United Methodist in Springfield, Mo. At Pitts Chapel, she served as a member of the Usher board, Communion Steward, Nurture Care Committee, Pastor Parish Relations Committee and as a Stewardship Chairperson. Helen and Everett were members of social clubs 13 and 15 during the 60's and 70's. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Jerry Chancellor; a brother, William Adams; and a step-son Everett Leroy Franklin, Jr. She is survived by her son, Glenn Chancellor of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter, Kimberly Berry (Richard) of Springfield; three stepsons, Larry A. Franklin (Margaret), Dennis L. Franklin of Springfield and Mark S. Franklin (Deborah) of Spring, TX; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Franklin; three sisters, Betty Stewart and Rosemary Adams both of St. Louis and Jackie Craddock of Los Angeles, Ca; two brothers; Robert Adams of Brooklyn, NY and Larry Adams of St. Louis, Mo.; an Aunt, Rosetta Adams of St. Louis, Mo.; thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; special friends, Linda Brown and Ora Logan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be from 5 -7p.m. on Sunday, June 10 at Gorman -Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Monday June 11, 2012 at Pitts Chapel UMC. Interment will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12 at Resurrection Hill Cemetery, Pacific, Mo.
