Obituary

On Thursday, November 14, 2013 Helen R Foster made the journey to Heaven to join her Lord and Savior. She also was welcomed by her beloved parents and grandparents, brothers and the two loves of her life. Lee Biggs, her first husband and father of 3 of her children who passed away before her in 1961 and Harry Foster, father of her youngest daughter, who passed away September 23, 2012. Helen was born, March 2, 1928 to Rudolph and Bessie Glauser in Overland Park, KS. She graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1946. Helen was a homemaker until 1979 when she went to work for the Springfield Public School System as a cook at Kickapoo High School. In 1982 she and Harry moved to Fort Lauderdale where she worked for 13 years as a secretary. They returned to Springfield in 1995 to be with family where she was a secretary for Wickhizer & Clutter until her retirement in 2006. Helen spent the last several years enjoying life with husband, Harry. She enjoyed sewing, painting and cooking but most of all spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Vicki Parkhurst and John, Jim Biggs and Stephanie, Nancy Ward and Marvin, Valerie Freeman and Tony; sister, Bonnie Brown and husband Bob; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and two very special sisters-in-law, Rosemary and Patricia Glauser. Helen had a wonderful attitude in the face of adversity. She always saw the silver lining in life along with a strong Faith to get her through. She was an inspiration to all of those who knew her. She had a witty sense of humor and a kind heart and was a very loving mother and grandmother who loved her children, and all her grandchildren with all her heart. She always had a twinkle in her eye and smile on her face. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Memorial services will be Monday, November 18, 2013 at 2pm in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hazelwood Cemetery.
