Helen L. Cox, 81, of Springfield passed away Friday, August 21, 2009 in her home. She was born May 14, 1928 in Wheatland, Missouri to Jesse and Abbie Louisa (Parrish) Miller. Helen accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She married John Cox December 24, 1946. Helen had been a floral designer since she was 16 years old, beginning her floral career with Springfield Seed Company. She had worked in many other floral shops during her life including Republic Floral and Stokes Floral. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Riley Cox, brother Mavis Miller, infant son, Larry Cox and infant grandson, Ryan Prahl. Helen is survived by her children, sons; Johnny and Beverly Cox, Roy and Theresa Cox, Jerry and Carolyn Cox ; daughters ; Cathy and Tim Booher, Jeannie and Steve Williams, Abbie and David Darst; a brother Gene Miller; a sister Rosalee Spears; a sister-in-law Rosela Miller; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be Monday, August 24, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Reverend Jerry Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. No formal visitation is planned. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
