Hazel Jane (Niederhuth) Bowlin Ryker, 102 of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025. Hazel was born the 5th of 9 children to George and Ella Katherine (Boehm) Niederhuth on December 9, 1922, in their house on Harrison Street in Springfield.
She graduated from Senior (Central) High School and went to work at the courthouse in the assessor's office. She was married to Cecile G. Bowlin until his death on August 22, 1964. They had three daughters, Jane, Joyce and Janet. Hazel started at Union National Bank in the safety deposit department where she met and later married William R. "Bill" Ryker on September 13, 1969. They enjoyed 32 years together before his passing on December 8, 2001.
Hazel was active in PEO, Binnie Clements Guild and a member of First and Calvery Presbyterian Church (since she was 6 years old), and the PTA while her kids were growing up. She loved playing canasta and bridge with her friends.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Hazel was preceded in death by her siblings, Curtis, Leland, Allyn, Vern, Weldon, John, Virgil and Gladys.
She is survived by her daughters, Jane Nadjafi and husband, Robert, Joyce Aakhus, and Janet Smith; two stepdaughters, Dianna Aldrich and husband, Bob, Donna Leker and husband Aldo; five grandchildren, Debbie Syphrett, Danny Aldrich, Natasha Leker, Angie Nadjafi, Ron Nadjafi; two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Garrett Syphrett as well as many nieces and nephews.
Hazel says, "My love to all".
Visitation will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Gorman Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with a service at 1:30 pm. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital or First and Calvery Presbyterian Church.
