Harry Don Maynard, age 77, a resident of Springfield, MO passed away Monday, May 21, 2012, at home. He was born on June 28, 1934 in Springfield to Harry Lee and Ruth (Griswell) Maynard. He was a graduate of Springfield High School (Central High School). Harry served his country from 1954 to 1957 in the United States Marine Corp. On April 28, 1958, Harry was united in marriage to Beulah Cathern House in Springfield, Missouri. Harry was employed as a maintenance man for Boatman's Bank from which he retired in 1996. Harry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Beulah, of the home, two daughters and a son; Paula Maynard-Akers and her husband, Mark, of Tucson, Arizona, Rebecca Hughes, of Springfield, Missouri, and Michael Maynard and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Nixa, Missouri; five grandchildren; Shane Maynard of Nixa, Missouri, Adam Maynard and his wife, Mallory, of Anchorage, Alaska, Bryce Maynard and his fiancé, Amy Cravens, of Marshfield, Missouri, Trevor Guinn of Nixa, Missouri, Catherine Hughes, of Springfield, Missouri. He is also survived by a brother and a sister, Frank Maynard and his wife, Elaine, of Springfield, Missouri, Marilyn Brockman and her husband, Bob, of Port St. Lucie, Florida. And a host of nieces and nephews who loved their "Uncle Harry". Harry was a friend to all that he ever met. He loved to fish and hunt. He was particularly known for the poems that he wrote and shared through the years. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Missouri Department of Conservation. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 Farm Road 177, Springfield, Missouri, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
