Harold Bell Wright of Fair Grove, MO passed away on July 31, 2026, at the age of 93.

Harold was born on January 23, 1933, in Hart, OK to Albert and Ida Wright. His parents named him after the author, Harold Bell Wright, who later sent him a signed copy of one of his books. He grew up on a farm with his brother, Carl, and served as a member of the Oklahoma National Guard. Harold moved to Springfield, MO and met the love of his life, Paula. They were united in marriage, August 13, 1965. Together they built a loving home, in which they raised their family.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ida Wright; daughter, Debra Henderson; brother, Carl Wright; sister-in-law, Maris Wright; father-in-law, John Tucker; mother-in-law, Eula (Tucker) Cloven; sister-in-law, Judy Lile; sister-in-law, Barbara Hinds and her husband, Darrell Hinds; son-in-law, Tracy Tucker; and daughter-in-law, Tammie Anderson. Harold was loved by his family and will be deeply missed by his wife, Paula Wright; son, Rick (Rhonda) Wright; daughter Desiree (Eldon) Owen; son Tyler Hogue; daughter, Vanessa McCann; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great grandchildren.

Harold was a man of deep faith and served the Lord gladly with every opportunity that presented itself. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church for 61 years where he served as an usher and made many lifelong friendships. Harold left as deep of an impact on the church as it left on him.

Harold loved spending time with his family and rarely missed an opportunity to attend family functions. During his life he supported his family by working at Kraft, Frisco Railroad, and as a small business owner of Wright’s Painting. Harold loved the outdoors, especially sitting on his back deck with Paula watching the hummingbirds, cardinals, deer and other various wildlife on their property. He loved old westerns, and his weekends spent with his grandson, Christian.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home (1947 E. Seminole St., Springfield, MO). Funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM. Harold will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens (3600 N. Glenstone, Springfield MO).
