Harold L. Marlin, 83, Springfield, passed away from complications of Parkinson's on Thursday, December 4, 2014 in Missouri Veterans Home, Mt. Vernon, MO. He was born August 1, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, MO, the son of Howard Franz and Helen Marie (Jameson) Marlin. He graduated from Senior High School and Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield. Harold was a member of Campbell United Methodist Church. He served in the Marine Corp and was stationed in. Bremerton, Washington. Harold came back to work at Springfield Tablet Company. He then went to work and retired from McGregor Variety Hardware. After retirement, he enjoyed driving for Fisk Limousine Services. Harold enjoyed attending Lady Bear games, was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed playing golf and traveling with friends. You could find him working in the yard and always working on a home improvement project. He was also involved with the Sertoma Club. The most enjoyment of his life was being with his family. He was the #1 fan at any activity involving his kids or grandkids. While he was at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, he brought enjoyment to all around him and loved talking to and getting to know everyone around him. Harold is survived by his son, Randy Marlin and wife, Kathy; two daughters, Jane Ann Smith and husband, Gary; and Pamela Sue Evans and husband, Bill; six grandchildren, Morgan Kline, Kari Smith, Sara Cook and husband, Justin, Sally Smith, Blake Evans and wife, Julia, and Kyle Evans; one great-granddaughter, Casey; and the Endicott Family. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2014 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will be held from 4:00- 6:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
