While serving in the United States Army Air Corps, he married his beloved wife Mary Margaret Knabb Kennedy in 1943. Soon after their wedding, he went overseas for two and a half years to serve during World War II. After the war, Harold earned a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. His first judicial assignments were with the Social Security Administration and then with the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. In 1977, they moved to Walnut Creek, California, when Harold became an administrative law judge with the National Labor Relations Board in San Francisco. He retired from the Federal government in 1988 and then served as an arbitrator for many years. Harold and Mary were members of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Hill, California.
Harold was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. After a blessed marriage of over 66 years, he was predeceased by his wife Mary in 2010. He is survived by four grateful sons, Steven, Laurence, Alan and Philip, four daughters-in-law, 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
