Gus Henderson Henry was born on January 2, 1955 Wichita, KS and went to be with the lord on January 15, 2019. Gus is survived in death by his son, Spencer Reid Henry of Springfield. Gus was the oldest of five siblings, Joe and Marilyn Henry, Jacksonville FL; Lisa and Jim Sherman, Richmond; Nanette Henry and Kenneth Sprague(KG) of Jacksonville FL; and Laura Beth Henry, St. Louis; as well as several nieces and nephews; Hank Kate and Andrew Sherman, Jeremy Lilly Katie Liam and Lenix Booth; and several aunts, uncles and cousins and their families.
Gus was preceded in death by his parents Denny and Anita Henry.
Gus was a lifelong resident of Springfield, attended Parkview High School and SMS for a time as well. Gus worked in the construction industry for most of his life with companies including, Cozart Construction, Paul Mueller Company, and Brentwood Management. Gus was a Master Craftsman whether working with wood or metal. To all that knew him Gus was an incredible father, son, brother and friend, he would always go out of his way to help almost anyone that could need a hand, you really could count on Gus. His friends will remember him from his younger days; Gus was an outstanding athlete.
A celebration of life will be held for Gus on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the American Legion Post 639, 2660 S. Scenic, Springfield, Missouri 65807.
