Gretchen Ann Clinkenbeard Palmisano, 48, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO due to complications from heart surgery. She was born November 27, 1964 to William Lloyd and Joan Murray Clinkenbeard. Although she only stood at 4'11, Gretchen's vibrant personality could fill a room and her laughter and kindness filled all our hearts. She was a 1983 graduate of Glendale High School and attended Missouri State University, majoring in Communications and Finance. She was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority and Homecoming Queen in 1986. Gretchen was a devoted mother who never missed her children's events. She was especially well known at the soccer field. She was a life member of Christ Episcopal Church and preceded in death by her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Murray Sr. Gretchen is survived by her three children; daughters Paige Jones and Emma Palmisano, and son Tony Palmisano and their father Jim Palmisano; her twin sister Jane Clinkenbeard Menown and her three children Jule Wasser, Jenna Clinkenbeard, and Conor Menown; her mother Joan Murray Clinkenbeard and father William Lloyd Clinkenbeard and his wife Myrna; her brother Bob Clinkenbeard and his wife Merica and their children Ty, Trace, and Jack. Gretchen is also survived by her second family at Hogan Land Title where she worked for over 12 years. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10:00am in Christ Episcopal Church with The Reverend Jonathan Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Park Cemetery.
