Gregory L. Solum, 60, of Jefferson City, MO passed away suddenly on Wednesday morning July 18, 2012 at his home. Greg was born in Wichita, Kansas, but grew up in Springfield. He graduated from Glendale High School and went on to graduate from SMU with a Masters degree in Guidance and Counseling. He was the Director of Rehabilitation Facilities for the Missouri Department of Vocational Rehabilitation for 28 years until his retirement. Greg was a certified Rehabilitation counselor and a licensed professional counselor. He was a longstanding member and past president of Missouri Rehabilitation Association. He also volunteered at the Jefferson City Samaritan Center. He was preceded in death by his father Garnet A. Solum. He is survived by his mother Joan Solum, Springfield, MO; two sisters Andrea Solum, Prairie Village, KS and Pam Solum, Springfield, MO; brother David Solum, Republic, MO; three sons Nathan Solum, Redondo Beach, CA, Justin Solum, Jefferson City, MO and Parker Solum, Walnut Grove, MO. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012, in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church with the Msgr. Thomas Reidy officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Samaritan Center in Jefferson City, MO.
