Greg William Johnston, born April 5, 1952, passed away on August 13, 2026, at the age of 74.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Marie Johnston, and his cherished life partner, Patricia Springer.

Greg is survived by his daughters, Jill Winans and Christa Spivy, his cousin Mary Kay (Rick), her daughter Kelsey (Tom) and their children Auggie and Madeline, and his best furry friend, Chloe, who was a beloved and faithful companion.

Greg graduated from Glendale High School in 1970 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Economics and Business Administration from Drury University. He then dedicated nearly half a century of his life to working at the United States Post Office, where he built a long and meaningful career. He was an extremely dedicated employee who even won an award for 10 consecutive years of perfect attendance.

Greg believed in giving back to his community. He spent many hours as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, helping those in need during the holiday season. He also brought joy and companionship to nursing home residents, volunteering with his pets for Pet Therapy of the Ozarks. Greg further served his community by sitting on the board of his local credit union.

Greg was passionate about dogs, car shows, the Beach Boys, the Bob and Tom radio show, St Louis Cardinals, and trips to the lake. He was a loving son, father, cousin and friend to many. We will all miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:15 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2026 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Hazelwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pet Therapy of the Ozarks are appreciated. https://www.pettherapyozarks.org/donate.
