Gordon Oscar Sunde, retired electrical engineer and farmer of Nixa, Missouri passed away on July 7, 2020, at the age of 88.

Gordon was born December 3, 1931 near Corsica, South Dakota to Oscar Sunde and Judith Groseth Sunde.  He grew up in Centerville, South Dakota where he developed a love of farming while helping his Grandpa Groseth and brother in law Vandal Oakland on the family farm.  After graduating high school, he attended Augustana College for a year before entering military service during the Korean War where he was selected to serve on the naval aircraft AJ Savage.

Following his naval service he was attending South Dakota State University, when he met Betty A. Tronson, whom he married on September 5, 1956.  After graduating college with an electrical engineering degree Gordon and family moved to Southern California where he began his engineering career working at Hughes Aircraft Company.  Later he built a successful electronic sales representative business and worked at that for many years in Southern California before moving to Missouri.  Gordon then farmed in Missouri for over twenty years before retiring at 82 years of age.

Gordon's family and others in his life were fortunate to be influenced by his positive can-do attitude, hard work, and generosity.  Gordon loved life and enjoyed his family and friends, singing in the choir, working on his farm, and was always sincerely interested while talking to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren about what was going on in their lives.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Betty (Tronson) Sunde, children Greg (Marilyn), Doug (Lori), Sherry (Sunde) Weinmeier, David, sister Joyce (Sunde) Engh, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by two sisters, Eunice Oakland and Clarice Bak, and in-laws Bert and Ann Tronson.

Funeral Service for Gordon O. Sunde will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 18, 2020, at Faith Lutheran Church in Springfield, Missouri with Reverend Michael Edwards officiating.  A visitation will be held at the church just after the service.  A private family burial with military honors will be held at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2020 in Faith Lutheran Church.  Private family burial with full military honors will be held in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
