IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gloria Jean
Mcmullen Goins
September 22, 1945 – February 12, 2025
Gloria Jean (née Ragon) McMullen Goins was born on September 22,1945, in Odessa, TX, to Lillie Marie and Austin Edly Ragon. After graduating from Rangely High School, Rangely, CO, Gloria married Bob McMullen and pursued a college degree in Gunneson, CO, while raising a family. After graduating college, Gloria taught kindergarten for a few years, before moving to Kansas City, MO, for Bob's career. Gloria then built her own successful career as a manager of the accounts receivable department at Yellow Freight, where she retired after 25 years of service. During her time at Yellow Freight, Gloria proudly earned an MBA.
Bob passed in 2013 after 47 years of marriage, and it was a blessing when Gloria met her dear friend, Dick Goins in 2016, whom she married in September 2018. Gloria would tell you they had been married "76," and would smile big – she counted their time together in months versus years. They had many fun trips together, that almost always involved playing golf.
Gloria professed her faith in Jesus Christ as a young girl, and she was a member of Crossway Baptist Church, Springfield, MO, where she regularly attended. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was very proud of her children: Doug McMullen, wife Becky; and Jason McMullen. Gloria was dedicated to time spent with her family and friends, especially her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was very passionate about playing golf with Dick, and her many friends, at both Springfield Golf Club and Lake Valley Country Club in Camdenton, MO. Dick and Gloria had many special winter golf trips, and she recently said her favorite of all, were those made to Tucson, AZ. All who knew Gloria well, knew she was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, flip flops, and good Italian food.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Dick Goins; children, Doug McMullen (Becky) and Jason McMullen; grandchildren, Tony McMullen, Barbie McMullen, Kaleb Settle, Justin McMullen (Samantha), Blake McMullen, Ashley McMullen, and Maddie McMullen; great grandchildren, Brecken, Brooklyn, Braxton, Dewie, Jackson, Audrey; brother, Ron Ragon (Joy). Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Bob McMullen; her son, Scott; and her parents Lillie and Austin Ragon.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Mercy Hospital for their compassionate care.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Crossway Baptist Church, 2900 N. Barnes Ave., Springfield, MO, 65803. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with memorial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to Crossway Christian Academy, info@crosswayca.org. Gloria's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
