On September 20, 2013, Gladys Jones passed away. Gladys was born January 21, 1927 in Faulkner, Mississippi to Asa and Bama Buchanan. She was one of eight children. She married Bobby Jones on February 6, 1948, and they raised three daughters: Brenda, Linda, and Deborah. The family moved between Memphis, Tennessee, Mobile, Alabama, and Springfield as Bobby's job duties with the Frisco and Burlington-Northern Railroad changed. Gladys was a homemaker, Sunday school teacher, home room mom, seamstress, gardener, floral designer, flower show judge, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed fishing with family on Truman Lake. Gladys was a member of the Brentwood Estates Garden Club for over 50 years. Her yard was always adorned with many beautiful flowers which she enjoyed sharing. She attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. Gladys was preceded in death by her brothers, Ervin, Alvin, Leon, and Roy, as well as her son-in-law, Stephen Bernier. Surviving family members include: Bobby, her husband of 65 years; daughters Brenda (Paul) Hansen, Linda Bouchard, and Deborah (Kenny) Hendricks; siblings Travis (Grady) Buchanan, Marie Shearin, and Hazel Smith; sister-in-law Mamie Buchanan; grandchildren Jennifer Finley, Ryan (Erica) Bouchard, Dustin (Evita) Bouchard, Jessica (Kenneth) Davis, and Kale Souders; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Emily, Hannah, Hailey, Sophia, Nolan, Malinda, Liam, Rowan, and Tatum. The visitation will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday September 26, 2013 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with services following at 12:30. Burial will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
