Obituary

Gladys L. Cheffey, 93, of Springfield, MO died February 22, 2014 in her home. Gladys was one of 9 children, born on December 9, 1920 to George and Ella Niederhuth. She was married to Earnest Cheffey who preceded her in death in 1984. Gladys was a lifelong member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, directed the lady's quilting group and was a member of the history committee. Not only will she be remembered for her excellent quilting and sewing of all types, but also as a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her two children Pamela Rhoden and Dean Cheffey and his wife, Anne; her three granddaughters, Theresa Haley, husband Phillip, Krista Heuett, husband Brad, and Tiffany Jennings, husband Chris; her two great-grandsons, Jacob and Hunter Heuett; her sister, Hazel Ryker; and brother, Vern Niederhuth. Visitation is Wednesday Feb. 26, from 5:30 to 7:00pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Interment is Thursday Feb. 27th at Hazelwood Cemetery at 1:15pm, with memorial service to follow at First and Calvary at 2:00pm. Memorial donations may be made to First and Calvary Presbyterian Church.
