Virginia "Ginny" Pilgrim, 76, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday morning, November 13, 2012 from causes related to diabetes. Born on March 14th, 1936 to Robert Gordon and Ruby Edna Adkins, Virginia grew up near Reeds Spring, Mo, graduating with honors from Reeds Spring High School. She married Danny Edwin Pilgrim on August 22, 1955, a marriage that lasted nearly twenty years. She was mother to four children, and leaves behind eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Virginia was a kind-hearted spirit, touching each person she met in a positive way. She was also a fighter, overcoming numerous health related problems that began in 1985. She was full of love for her family and numerous friends throughout her life. She relished her role as a mother and grandmother, and looked forward to spreading her joy and wisdom to all who were close to her. Virginia is survived by the four children, Daniel Scott Pilgrim and wife Lavena of Springfield, Christopher Charles Pilgrim and wife Elizabeth of Springfield, Karen DeAnn Hayes and husband Joseph of Belton, MO, and Joseph Benjamin Pilgrim of Ft. Worth, TX. Grandchildren include Allesha Bishop, Kyle Pilgrim, Jessica Pilgrim, Jamie Pilgrim, Traci Hayes, James Hayes, Jackson Pilgrim and Grace Pilgrim. Also surviving are sisters Barbara Cunningham, Thelma Adkins, Annalee Davis, Dorothy Uhr, Cathy Harpool and brother David Adkins. A memorial service for Virginia will be held Friday, November 16, 2012 at 10:00 am in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel, 1947 E. Seminole St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
