IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gertrude J.
"Trudy" Graber
September 11, 1931 – January 8, 2023
Gertrude 'Trudy' Graber passed away peacefully on January 8, 2023 in her home at the age of 91. Although she will be missed greatly the family is thankful that after a long illness with dementia she is now fully healed, whole and reunited with loved ones that have gone before her.
Born September 11, 1931 she grew up in Springfield, Missouri. She was a hairdresser in her early years and in later years also co-owner of Bo-Annie's a children's resale shop.
She especially loved being a homemaker and creating a home filled with love and laughter. She was a wonderful kind hearted woman and will be remembered for her ready smile and generous heart for others and her love of God.
She especially cherished the little ones around her through her lifetime- her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and those who called her 'Nana'
She loved the outdoors and spent her married life fishing, camping and enjoying the local lakes with her beloved husband of many years, Fred Graber, Jr and children. Fred and Trudy were both previously members of the VFW Post 3404 where they enjoyed years of fellowship and community service.
In later years she enjoyed traveling the country not only with her sister and niece, but also with dear friends on senior trips with High Street Baptist Church where she was baptized and a member for many years.
She was a great lover of animals and took in many rescues during her lifetime.
Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L Graber, Jr, a son Lawrence 'Larry' Graber, her sister Vickie Cramer and niece Terry Cramer.
She is survived by her children Laura Sims, Joseph Fry, Deborah (Lonnie) Dowden, Gary (Becky)Graber, Fred (Chris) Graber, Teresa (Kenneth) Stuck and step daughter Linda (Dick) Jones, brother-in-law Don Cramer, niece Vickie Don Scott and nephew Rob Cramer and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Integrity Home Care and Hospice for their care and support along with Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home.
After a small private graveside service Trudy will be laid to rest in Springfield National Cemetery with her late husband Fred Graber, Jr.
Donations can be made in her honor to Alzheimer's Association, Rescue One Springfield, or Whispering Willows Senior Dog Sanctuary of Hermitage, MO.
