Obituary

George F. Wilson, 83, passed away on August 7th, 2009 at St Johns Hospital in Springfield, MO. George was born in Muncie, Kansas in 1925 and was a graduate of Ward High School. George served in the United States Marine Corp "A" Battery 5th Battalion as a Corporal seeing action in Iwo Jima and serving in the occupation force on the Japanese Islands. George was married in 1949 to Norma Lea Mackay of Lee's Summit ,Mo. George retired from the United States Postal Service in 1981. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a founding member of the Council of Palms in Lenexa, KS and serviced as the Grand Knight. George was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and two brothers. Survivors include daughter Georgia Lea Slack,Springfield, Mo. : Son, Buck Wilson and wife Margie, Holt Summit, Mo.: Daughter, Connie Wells and husband Corkey, Leawood, KS.; Daughter, Vicki Lindsay and husband George (Rusty) of Willard , Mo., and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 12th at 9:30 am in St. Agnes Cathedral with burial following at Missouri Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 11th, from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
