IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George William
Vincel
February 28, 1950 – October 17, 2018
George William Vincel was born in St. Louis, MO on February 28, 1950 and moved to Springfield, MO when his family bought the Buick dealership in 1964. He worked there for 30 years as a mechanic, salesman and finance officer. For the past 20 years he managed, along with his brothers, Vincel Capital Management, LLC. George passed away in his home from natural causes on October 17, 2018.
George loved his Lord Jesus Christ, his family and friends, and his church, First Baptist, Springfield, where he was a member for 43 years. He served there as an usher, camera operator and the griller of hotdogs for many parking lot events held by the church. He had many friends there, including the pastor and his family, who loved him greatly and whom he loved as well. The most common remark made about George was about his wonderful sense of humor and how he made us all laugh. Cardinal baseball was his favorite pastime. He spent many hours at Twin Oaks Country Club playing golf and visiting with friends. His negotiating skills were second to none.
George was preceded in death by his parents John D. and Evelyn Vincel, parents-in-law Albert and Mary Crews and granddaughter Cathryn Hope Tepper. George is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cathryn Vincel, his daughter, Robyn Vincel Tepper, husband Carl, and precious granddaughter, Claudia, his brothers, Mark (Carla), Mack (April), Bob (Ann), his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Goldsberry (Bill) and Phyllis Moore (Fred), and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration service of George's life will be held on Monday, October 22 at 2 pm at First Baptist Church, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 1 pm. An informal visitation will be held Sunday after 1pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church, 525 South Ave, Springfield, MO 65806.
