George Wallace McGee, 71, passed away on March 4, 2022. George began his life on February 3, 1951, in humble Gary, Indiana to JD McGee and Maude (Goodson) McGee. George was the youngest of eight children.
George proudly served in the military in both the Army and Marine Corps. His last station was in Hawaii where he met his first wife, Michaeline Leinani (Holi) McGee, who preceded him in death. He later met his life-long partner of 31 years, his loving wife, Cierlita Landicho McGee.
George attended Neil Simeon Vocational High School in Chicago, Illinois, where he learned basic mechanical skills. He went on to receive training at the Tri-State Semi-Driving School in Springfield, Missouri.
The majority of George's civilian working career consisted of positions in the heavy-hauling trade. He was employed as a bus operator in Hawaii early on and later worked for several trucking companies where he was an owner-operator for some companies. His last employment was with Springfield Catholic Schools as a bus operator.
George was preceded in death by numerous relatives and friends. Those include his first wife (2013) and one son, Mica (2003). Other deceased relatives were his brothers, Lionel, Dickie, Clarence, Peter and Paul; his sister, Barbara; his grandson, Bernard; and special friends, Leo and Tessie.
George is survived by his wife, Cierlita; his brother, Wilbur; his sister, Delores. He leaves behind two sons, Thomas and Michael; daughter, Arielle (Justin Lualemana); grandchildren, Avery and son-to-be-born-Carson Lualemana, Marley, Kaho'iwai, Micah, Michael Jr, Thomas "Keoki", Takisha, Tehani and Tatiana McGee, and Samuel, Tiana and Treasure Fa; and two great-grandchildren, Fono and Ayvah; as well as many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his stepdaughter, Grace and two step-grandchildren, Brooke and Blake, along with many loving friends.
Visitation will be held at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 PM. Burial will be at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, Springfield at 2:00 PM.
Cierlita request that gifts be made to the American Diabetes Association, or The Shepherd's Fund at the Springfield Catholic Schools or Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, Springfield.
