Obituary

George Copeland, 95 years old, passed on 2 January 2016 at home with his family.  He served in the Army Air Corp with the 448th Bomber Group in WWII and later a POW and survivor of the Black March from Feb to May 1945 until liberation. A graduate of Kansas State University, a  life member of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers and a charter member of the Greater Ozarks Ex-POW Chapter along with several other veteran organizations as well as a Mason for 69 years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Maxine Copeland and son Greg Copeland, daughters Cynthia Copeland-DeVan(Ken) and Jeannie James(Keith) and 1 grandson and 3 granddaughters, 2 step-granddaughters and 1 great grandson. Services will be graveside at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations will be appreciated in care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 417.866.9996 for the Rare Breed Youth Services and Ozarks Chapter of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers scholarship fund.
