George Carameros, 58, of Springfield passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 in St. John's Hospital. George was born December 9, 1952 to Bessie Catsavas Manuel Carameros and George Manuel in New York City, New York. George grew up in Miami, Florida where he attended Miami-Dade College. George began his merchandising career with an emphasis on menswear. In 1976, George became president of Display Concepts and Design Consulting. In 1993-1999, he was President/Owner of Hemisphere Clothing Co. and Outlander in South Beach, Florida, which was the largest retailer of vintage Levi's in the world. George continued honing his skills and practicing his God-given talent and craft. In 2004, he came to Bass Pro Shops as merchandising director, soon after he was named Director of Merchandising and Imagery. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rebecca (Morehouse) Carameros of Springfield, MO; son, Jonathan Davis Carameros of San Francisco, CA; mother, Bessie Carameros of Augusta, GA; father, Gus Carameros and his wife Sylvia of Akion, OH; sisters, Toni Peacock and husband Ron of Augusta, GA, Karen Dyke and husband Rick of Tallahassee, FL, Cindy Carameros of Coconut Creek, FL and Kim Eisberg of Boca Rotan, FL; brother, Keith Carameros and wife Denise of Augusta, GA; sisters-in-laws, Sandra Morehouse Thrasher and husband Tom and Dr. Mary Morehouse; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be held at Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will be Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
