Geneva Erma Robertson, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Cox Hospital. Geneva was born May 28, 1914, north of Bolivar, MO in a small community called Cliquot. Geneva was a live -in house keeper and nanny for Dr. John Wood Williams, Jr. and his family. Geneva was a faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church, where after retiring she volunteered for some 25 years, or more at St. Mary's Guild Next-To-New Shop. She made quilts for the new born babies at Cox Hospital and enjoyed many interesting outings with the Vinton Fellowship. Geneva was a wonderful cook, avid reader, loved doing crossword puzzles, cross-stitching and crocheting. She enjoyed the outdoors and looked forward to going to her grandchildren's many sporting events and activities. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, a half sister and one step sister. Geneva is survived by a daughter, Dolores L. Ryan Vincel and her husband, the late John D. Vincel; four grandchildren, April Vincel and her husband Mack, Robin Looney and her husband Ron, Holly Ryan, all of Springfield, MO, and Shane Ryan and his wife Sherri of Abilene, TX; seven great-grandchildren, Mack Vincel Jr. and his wife Mendy, Ryan Vincel and his wife Jill, Jaime, Sarah and Tim Looney, Rebecca and Zachary Ryan; three great-great grandchildren, Cole and twins, Cate and Cash Vincel; three nieces, who were very special to her, Barbara Lindsey, Sue Lawley, and Marilyn Williams and their families; four step grandsons and their families. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in Christ Episcopal Church, with The Reverend Kenneth L. Chumbley officiating, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Private burial will following the reception in the Church Parish Hall, following the service. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church Building Fund, 601 E. Walnut St., Springfield, MO 65806. Geneva was known as "Nancy Gee" by her grandchildren. She spent her whole life doing for others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
