Wilford Eugene (Gene) Taylor, age 95, of Springfield passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 in Ash Grove Health Care Facility. Gene taught elementary school in Seymour. In 1955 he joined the U.S. Weather Bureau and worked for 25 years in Columbia, St. Louis and Springfield before retiring in 1980. He married Daisy Anderson on December 16, 1939, and she passed away in October 1993. He later married Dortha Webster in April 1994; she died in January 2006. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Daisy and Dot; twin sister, Wanda; sister, Doris; and brother, Lee. He is survived by his sons, Ronald and wife Tina and Greg and his wife Kathy; daughters, Sandy and husband Ken Neely and Donna and husband Bob Scharpf; step-son, Eddie Webster; special friend, Oneta Holloway; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 1pm Thursday, July 23, 2015 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Private burial will be in Seymour Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1pm Thursday in the funeral home.
