August 3, 2022, an amazing man went to heaven after a courageous battle with cancer. Eugene "Gene" Michael Rog, Pepaw, was a loving, caring, fun-hearted man who made everyone around him feel loved and important.

Gene, also known as Geno, is survived by the love of his life, Janice Fern Rog; his children: Lee Rog, Amber Lutz, Kimberly & (Phillip) Tucker, Rick & (Nicole) Baker; his grandchildren: Mayalani Rog, Deanna Means, Aspen Tucker, Natalie Tucker, Danielle Baker, Alyssa Lutz, Marric Lutz, Dillon Baker, Makayla & (Micah) Nale, Angelica & (Justin) Brooker; his great-grandchildren: August Tucker, Mackenzie, Joshua, Hayden & Embersyn Brooker, and Skylar & Spencer Nale.

Gene was born September 10, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri to Bernice Rog. He spent his teenage years at the Good Samaritan Boys Ranch where he learned to be the great man he was. He served as a union steward at the United States Postal Service fighting for employee rights. He was a descendant of Polish immigrants and held great pride in his heritage.

Gene was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Rog, his grandmother, Stella Rog, and his uncle Johnny Rog.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 10, from 5-7pm at the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home located 1947 E Seminole Street, Springfield.
