Gary Lynn Michaels, 71, of Springfield, MO passed away April 6, 2015. He was born in Carthage, MO on August 7, 1943 to Chester and Florene Michaels. He graduated from Carthage HS in 1961. On August 8, 1964 he married Patricia Vacca. Gary actively served in the Army during the Vietnam War. After his service, he attended Moler Barber College in Kansas City. He moved to Springfield in 1969 where he began his career as a barber. After 44 years in the same location, health issues forced him to close his shop in 2013. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and coin collecting. He is survived by Patricia, his loving wife of 50 years; son, Eric Michaels of Springfield; daughter Michelle Jared and her husband Brian, 3 grandchildren Madelynn, Alexis and Ralston Jared all of Rogersville; mother, Florene Michaels, a nephew and niece all of Carthage, MO. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Steven. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 2-4 PM at Gorman-Sharpf Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held, Monday, April 13, 2015 at 3 PM at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 5201 S. Southwood, Springfield, MO.
