Gary Edward Lutes, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on December 2, 2025 at the age of 77.

Born in Ironton, Missouri on September 9, 1948, Gary was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend.  Gary is survived by his wife of 38 years, Deborah Virdon Lutes, Springfield, MO; son Troy Lutes, Wichita, KS; son Todd Lutes (Beth), Springfield, MO; daughter, Mandie O'Hara (Chris), Bolivar, MO; and son Andew Miller, Ozark, MO. Gary is also survived by his six treasured grandchildren, Lauren O'Hara, Courtnie Miller, Taylor Lutes, Austin O'Hara, Connor Lutes and Camryn Miller.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ardie and Phyllis (Burch) Lutes, Piedmont, MO and his brother, Terry Lutes, also of Piedmont, MO.   Gary graduated from Clearwater High School in 1966 and went on to an extensive military and law enforcement career serving in the United States Army, Missouri National Guard, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.  Gary retired from his position as MSHP Sergeant in August 1999.   After retirement, he and Deborah enjoyed many years of traveling, playing golf and attending their grandchildren's many sporting events together.

Services will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
