Gaetan (Gaet) Edward Martino, 95, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 18th, 2025, in his home in Springfield, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 29th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 3555 South Fremont Avenue, Springfield Missouri with luncheon to follow at the church.
Gaetan Edward Martino was born on July 21, 1929, in Tottenville, Staten Island, NY. He earned a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree with cum laude honors from City College of New York and a Master of Management Engineering degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
His work history included plant engineer for National Lead Co, Titanium DIR in Sayreville, New Jersey; plant manager for Kolmar Laboratories in Port Jervis, NY and Denton, Tx; and agency manager for BMA Insurance in Springfield, Mo.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church (ICC) and believed in paying back to his church and community wherever he lived. At ICC, he was a lector, eucharistic minister and lead bible studies. He served such positions as President of the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army in Port Jervis, NY; President of the United Way in Denton, Texas; and parish council president in both Denton, TX and Springfield, Mo. After retiring, he enjoyed tutoring English as a Second Language at OTC. He had a passion for tennis and played into his 80's. He enjoyed cooking Italian food with his wife Mary Jane, attending his children and grandchildren's activities and our large family meal gatherings.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Guy Edward Martino; his parents, George and Catherine Martino; his five siblings, John, Philomenia Lemmer, Rose Dillon, Yolanda Martino and George Martino. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane; and four children: his daughter Mary Ann and her husband Mark DeVincenzi of Walnut Creek, CA; his daughter Jeanne Marie and husband Maarten Metz of Austin, Texas; his son John Gaetan and wife LaDonna of Springfield, Mo; his son Paul Francis and wife Laurie of Springfield, Mo; his grandchildren Nicole Ann DeVincenzi Minwell and husband Cody, Matthew Gaetano DeVincenzi, Catherine Marie DeVincenzi, Rachel Shannon Metz, Nathalie Emmanuelle Metz, Gaetan Anthony Martino, Nick Dillon and wife Nicole, Chris Dillon and wife MacKenzie, Joey Michael Martino, Lazaro Gaetano Martino and Isabella Rose Martino. And three great grandchildren, Greyson, Rory and Oliver.
