Freeda Alice (Rovenstine) Apperson was born November 12, 1917 in Dunnegan, Mo., the daughter of David and Ruth (Cross) Rovenstine. She entered into eternity to be with the Lord, and her loved ones who have gone before her, on Monday, August 16, 2010 in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 92 years 9 months and 4 days. On March 7, 1938 she was united in marriage to Afton Wesley Apperson at Clinton, Mo. Freeda made a profession of faith at an early age and remained faithful to the Lord her entire life. She was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in Springfield where she enjoyed attending the Tuesday morning Prayer meeting until her health no longer permitted. She also was a Sunday School teacher in the children's Sunday school and she worked in the Vacation Bible Schools. Freeda's occupation in life was that of a homemaker and mother, to her only daughter Carolyn Ruth. Freeda enjoyed reading, tending to the flowers in her yard; and watching and feeding the birds, rabbits and squirrels that would come into her yard. Freeda was predeceased by her husband Afton, her parents, two brothers Hallick (Hallie) Rovenstine and William (Bill) Rovenstine. She also was predeceased by her sister, Elmanet Hooper. Freeda is survived by her daughter Carolyn, and her husband Michael Stalnaker of Springfield, two nieces; and five nephews. Also surviving are other relatives and friends including her neighbor Kelly Sederburg who made weekly visits to Freeda after moving to a extended care facility. There will be a visitation on Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a memorial service at 7 p.m. in the Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, with family friend Reverend Darrell Mead officiating. There will be a private burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, in Springfield, Mo.
