Fred Ramon Morriset, II, passed away in his home Wednesday, November 24, 2010. He was born July 3, 1941 to Fred Ramon, Sr., and Mary Bond (Read) Morriset in Springfield. He attended Greenwood and Wentworth Military Academy and graduated from Parkview High School. He enlisted in the US Navy and was attached to fighter squadron VF211 aboard the USS Hancock. Fred attended Southwest Missouri State College, Santa Rosa Junior College and Sonoma State University. Upon discharge from the navy, he returned to Springfield where he worked with his father developing the family farm into Lakewood Hills and Lakewood Village, Springfields first planned unit development. He relocated his family to California where he worked for Boise Cascade as an estimator. After several years, they returned to Springfield and formed Heritage Homes, designing and building many homes in the area. Fred began a new career in insurance and was recognized as regional Rookie of the Year for Globe Life and Accident Insurance in 1984. He married Marcia Mellberg at Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego June 4, 1963, and was the proud father of Nicole Marie and Fred Ramon, III. Fred was an energetic, creative man with many talents and interests. He made many friends through the years enjoying his numerous hobbies, including radio controlled cars and boats, model planes and trains. In 1993 he realized a life long dream racing his BMW to a national championship in SCCA's ITE series. His latest venture was to build a tear drop travel trailer and travel with his faithful companion, Taz. Fred is survived by his wife, Marcia; his daughter Nicole Glenn and companion Peter Longley; his son Fred III, and wife Crystall, and his two grandchildren Emyli and Jacob; his sister Penelope Waggoner (Don), sister-in law Roberta Lee (Connie), nieces, nephews and many cousins and friends. Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, December 4, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel.
