Charles Frederick "Fred" Morgan, 63, Springfield, passed away at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 in St. John's Hospital. Fred was born November 26, 1946 in Miami, Oklahoma, the son of Marion L. and Betty Mae Jennings Morgan. He owned and operated Fred's Truck Repair in Springfield. He was a Master Mason and Past Master at Pleasant Hope Lodge #467. He was a member of Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason Valley of Joplin, Missouri and was also a member of Abou Ben Adhem Shrine in Springfield. He was a Vietnam Veteran, having served with the Sea Bees. Fred was an avid Harley Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast who supported the Toys for Tots program. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara. Fred is survived by his son, Brent, Springfield; three brothers, Marion Morgan and wife, Gwen, Columbus, Kansas; John Morgan, Miami, Oklahoma; and Doug Morgan and wife, Vicky, Denver, Colorado; a sister, Nancy Morgan, Miami, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Janice Ledbetter, Springfield; special nephew, Kelly Hoffman, Springfield, numerous other nieces and nephews; his devoted employee, Roxie Carpenter; and his grand-dog, Lizzie. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with the Reverend W. D. Wartenbee officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with a Masonic Service beginning at 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Toys for Tots, 1110 North Fremont, Springfield, MO 65802.
