Dr. Fred F. Esser, 83, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Monday, October 15, 2012. Fred was born September 6, 1929 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to John and Alma Mae Jordan Esser. Fred married Marilyn Grosse on May 16, 1952. Fred was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Fred graduated from the University of Nebraska. Fred retired from the Education Administration department of Missouri State University. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Quenten Esser, Norbert W. Esser, Robert Esser; and two sisters, Eustella Livingston and Emma Jean Caster. Fred is survived by his wife, Marilyn Grosse Esser of the home; three daughters Christie Esser of Springfield, Missouri, Kathy Starks and husband Larry of Odessa, Missouri, and Shari Asher and her husband James of Monett, Missouri; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Garry Esser and his wife Susan of Fair Play, Missouri. Graveside services with full military honors will be Friday, October 19, 2012 in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
