Fred Earl Engle Jr., age 75, Springfield, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in Cox South. Fred was born February 7, 1934, in Buffalo, Mo., the son of Fred Sr. and Bertha Eagon Engle. He lived in Buffalo and Bolivar before moving to Springfield. He spent his career in the auto industry, including owning Engle Chevrolet in Republic and Engle Motor Service in Springfield. He was a member of King's Way United Methodist Church, Masonic Canopy Lodge #284, Verona, Mo., and the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kay; and his sister, Emogene Conrad. He is survived by his daughters, Sally Engle, Springfield, and Lisa Wilkins and husband, Tom, Tulsa, Okla.; grandsons, Jeremy Chastain and wife, Catherine, Oklahoma City, Okla., Lucas Mathis, Allen, Texas, and David Wilkins, Tulsa, Okla.; great-grandson Cameron Mathis, Allen, Texas; sister-in-law Judy Russell; several nieces; and a lifetime of friends. He is also survived by a special friend and companion, Sharon Walker, Branson, Mo. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. A private family burial will take place in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
