Fred A. Brand's Obituary

Frederick (Fred) Andrew Brand, beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 7, 2026. He was 62.

Fred was born on September 19, 1963, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Charles and Dorothy Brand.

He is survived by his wife, Shawn Brand; his siblings, Karl, Paul, Carol, and Curt Brand; and his children and their families: Laura French and her husband Greg, with their sons Henry (8) and Oliver (6); Emily Fitzgearlds and her husband James, with their children Easton (7), Eleanor (5), and Emerson (2); and Scott Brand and his wife Crystal, with their son Theodore (1).

Fred married the love of his life, Shawn, on July 5, 1986. They shared nearly 40 years of marriage. They were a team in every sense of the word, raising their family in the early years and later riding their tandem bike, logging 45,000 miles together as part of the Springfield cycling community.

Fred graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Technology and worked as a software engineer throughout his career, most recently at SRC Technologies Group in Springfield.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Fred built his life around his family. He encouraged his children in everything they pursued, whether in athletics or the performing arts, and raised them in the Christian Lutheran faith by both word and example. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Fred had a gift for creating joy in ordinary moments. Whether it was playing ball, reading a story, or turning a simple car ride into an adventure, he created memories for his children and grandchildren that will last a lifetime. He documented those years carefully, leaving behind a collection of home videos and photos his family will always treasure.

Fred loved deeply and faithfully. He led his family with humility, strength, and a steady faith in God. The example he set as a husband, father, and man will continue to shape his family for generations.

Visitation will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, April 12. The funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Monday, April 13. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Fred Brand to Christian Care, an outreach program of Trinity Lutheran Church.
