Frank Dorrell "Judge" Schank was born June 8, 1941, son of Helen Mildred Dorrell and Emil Abraham Schank on the family farm, two miles west of Savannah, MO. He attended Howard for eight years, a one-room country school, then graduated from Savannah High School in 1959. He was active in Boy Scouts, baseball, football, and ran the mile in high school. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Dorrell worked on the family farm in the hay fields in the summer. He served six months active duty and 5 ½ years army reserves in the field artillery in communications, leaving with an honorable discharge. He briefly worked as a helper to the Andrew County Surveyor, surveying streets and subdivisions. He helped lay out the sewer lagoon near Brookfield, MO. Dorrell trained in Electronics at Central Technical Institute, Kansas City, MO. He went to work as an engineer for KYTV, Springfield, MO, in October 1962 and retired in February 2008, after 45 years. He enjoyed the work and the many friends. "KY3 is the place to be." His main hobby was as an amateur radio operator - W0VJC - since June 1954. He enjoyed country music and reading. He is survived by cousins Anna Lou Hunziger, Susan Thornton, Mary Lynn Laipple (Jack), and Noah Steven Karrasch (Gloria Galanes), and other cousins. He was a member of the Savannah Methodist Church. Memorial services will be held at 11 am on Monday, Dec. 1, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, MO, with a visitation from 10 am until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held at the Savannah Cemetery on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boys Scout Troop #60, 1307 W. Main, Savannah, MO 64485.
