Obituary

Former Springfield, MO resident Frank Leon Clark, 85, died on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN, surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 5-7 pm, followed by a memorial service on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10 am, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, MO.

Frank's family includes his wife of 64 years, Wanda; 4 sons, Duane (Lynn) Clark of Bethpage, TN, Greg (Lisa) Clark of St. Charles, MO, Brad (Caroline) Clark, of Carrollton, TX and Scott (Donna) Clark of New Orleans, LA; nine grandchildren, Annaliese (Austin) Lindsey of Grapevine, TX, Abbie (Adam) Peacock of Hampstead, North Carolina, Tyler Clark, Abi Noe and Sierra Shepherd, all of Nashville, TN, Jory Clark and Keegan Clark of Springfield, MO, Riley Clark of New Orleans, LA and Josiah "JJ" Clark of Bethpage, TN; two great grandsons, Ace Peacock and Aker Peacock; brother, Ted Clark, of Flower Mound, TX; half-sister Linda Clark, and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Clark and Winnie Clark, brother, Fred Clark and half-brother Ron Clark.

Frank was born October 2, 1938, in Washburn, MO.
He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1956 and attended Central Missouri State University. After completing his Bachelor's degree in only 3 years, he married his high school sweetheart, Wanda, on November 27, 1959. Frank returned to Central Missouri State, where he received his Master's Degree in Business in 1964. He received his Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 1975.

Frank started his teaching career at Tina Avalon High School in 1959, where he taught for one year. He then taught at Chillicothe High School for 4 years. In 1964 Frank and Wanda moved to Springfield, MO to begin teaching at Southwest Missouri State College, where he taught until he retired in 1990. Then they moved to Illinois where he began teaching again at Eastern Illinois University, where he taught for 10 more years before retiring. In 2000 they returned to Springfield, MO where he filled in at School of the Ozarks for one year.

Frank was a strong supporter of Missouri State sports. He also enjoyed time spent with his family and church family.
