Francis (Frank) Olander died on September, 17, 2016 in Springfield, MO. He was just shy of his 82 ^nd birthday on October 18, 1934.

He is survived by his sister, Dona Oressie, of Hazleton, PA and his children; Michelle Dooley and her husband David of San Antonio, TX. Mike Olander of St. Louis, MO, and Bob Olander and his wife Mary Ann of Springfield, MO. He also leaves behind beloved grandchildren Mary Frances, Michael, Daniel, Jaime, Matthew, Madeline, Emily, Kelly, and Anna. He was blessed with nine beautiful great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary Ann Olander (née Diepenbrock), and his son, Frank Olander, 1979.

Frank was born and raised in Hazleton, PA. He met his wife when the Air Force sent him to Scott Air Force Base near her hometown of St. Louis. They married shortly after his return from service in Okinawa where he jokingly says he did nothing more dangerous than play baseball.

He and his bride settled first in St. Louis and then in Hazleton before eventually returning to St. Louis to raise their four children. He was active in the CYO, coaching both baseball and basketball at St. Anthony of Padua parish where he coached more than one team to the city playoffs. He continued to support his grandchildren from the stands in their various athletic endeavors.

While in St. Louis he worked both for National Linen Service and Barnes Hospital. Shortly after his retirement he moved to New Braunfels, TX to live with his daughter and her family and then to Springfield, MO to live closer to his son Bob. He stayed active in both towns, delivering Meals on Wheels and was active in bowling leagues.

He will be forever missed by his family and friends.
