Francis E. Cozad passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013, at the age of 102, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Cozad was born on December 31, 1910 in Powersville, Missouri, the son of Dr. Frederick A. Cozad and Lelia Cowan Cozad. He graduated from Warrensburg State Teachers College in 1935. In 1937, he went to work at Hall Brothers Cards, later Hallmark. His initial sales territory was in New England, where he met and married Arlyn Condon Cozad of Presque Isle, Maine. They had two sons, James R. Cozad and John C. Cozad. Mr. Cozad worked for Hallmark until his retirement in 1972, after which he and Arlyn moved to Springfield, Missouri, where he owned and operated Cozad's Hallmark Card Shop in the Battlefield Mall until 1998. Mr. Cozad is survived by his son, James R. Cozad and wife Mary Ellen Cozad of Westlake, Ohio and by his son John C. Cozad and wife Linda Cozad of Platte City, Missouri, and by his granddaughter Mary Klym and his two great-grandchildren, John and Mary Kathryn, all of Rocky River, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 on Tuesday morning, February 5, 2013 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 East Seminole in Springfield. Burial will follow in Maple Park Cemetery.
