Francine Marie Herbel, Age 76, of Springfield, MO passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2011. Francine was born on April 20, 1935 in Tulsa, OK, the daughter of the late Frank Jefferson Vaughn and Mossie Marie (Hess) Vaughn. She spent most of her childhood in Jenks, OK, and graduated from Strafford High School. She later attended and instructed at the Missouri College of Cosmetology. Francine enjoyed playing the organ, crocheting, and long walks, but her greatest joy came from spoiling her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert Herbel, and is survived by her two daughters; Kimberly Burrell and Shari (Sam) Melia; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Smith) Gamble, and her husband Jeremy, Benjamin Smith and his wife Angelina, Austen (Crosby) Musil, and her husband Marc, Mary Kate (Katie) Melia, Abbey Melia, and Samantha Melia; two great grandchildren, Shawn Musil and Marcus Musil; and a niece, Vickie (Miles) Peterson and her husband Don. Friends and family are invited to attend a short graveside service at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at Springfield Lake, 5201 S. Southwood Road on Friday, March 2, at 3 pm under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
