Frances Elizabeth Metcalf, 92, Rogersville, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017, in her home after a short illness.

She was born August 24, 1925 in Chattanooga, TN, the daughter of the late Roger and Eliza (Vanwinkle) Short.

Frances married the love of her life, Frank A Metcalf, in April 1946.  Frank preceded her in death December 2000.  She was the bookkeeper for their Roofing & Siding Co. for many years.  To this union they had four children: Charlotte (George) Osgood, Seymour, Walter (Carolyn) Metcalf & Becky Eady, Rogersville, Debora Wendt, Rogersville, and Ruth (Jay) Camp, Chattanooga, TN.  She has 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

She lived in Rogersville since 2000 after the passing of her husband, Frank.  She enjoyed walking, reading, working jigsaw puzzles, word search books, and crocheting.

She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Sparta where she loved to sing and worship.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 PM, and a funeral service will be held on Monday, October 16, at 1:00 PM all at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

She will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends.
