Frances L. Douglas, 86, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010, in her home. She was born in Hannibal, Missouri, on January 9, 1924, to the late William R. Harrington and Essie Dant Harrington. She graduated from Lincoln University with a BS degree in Education. In 1946, she moved to Springfield to teach at Lincoln School. In 1950, she married W. B. Douglas and to this union three children were born. Later, she worked in Customer Service at City Utilities until her retirement in 1987. Frances was a member of Benton Avenue AME Church, serving as treasurer for over 30 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, a sister, and a daughter, Sue. Survivors include a daughter, Judy; of Springfield and a son, Steven of St. Peters, Mo.; three granddaughters, one great-grandson, three nephews, one niece and several cousins and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, May 28, 2010, at 10 a.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010, in the funeral home.
