Frances Irby (Shackleton) Ceaser of Springfield, Mo., died in her home December 6, the day after her 85th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ceaser. Frances was born in rural Virginia. She moved to Chicago and lived there for over 50 years. While in the Chicago area, she attended Valparaiso University and received a BA and MA+ in history education. She worked for 25 years at William A Wirt HS where she was frequently voted the best teacher. She moved to Springfield in 2003 where she quickly became involved in the community. She especially enjoyed her trips with the Springfield Art Center, the opera, Elder Learning at Drury University and other cultural events. She made many special friends and they made her final years very happy. There will be a celebration of Frances' life in the spring. Please make any donations in her name to the Greene County Library Center or the Springfield Regional Art Center.
